From Cradle to Grave: A Lecture on Life-cycle Rituals in Ancient China

From Cradle to Grave: A Lecture on Life-cycle Rituals in Ancient China

What is ritual (Li) in traditional China? Li in Chinese does not have an equivalent translation in English. As a key concept in ancient Chinese politics and culture, a ritual is too abstract and complicated to define without the situational context needed for an accurate interpretation. Join us for a lecture that offers insight and understanding into the rituals that regulated almost all aspects of the state and people of Ancient China.

A light reception will be served from 11:30 a.m., and the lecture following at noon.
